What is the cost for your services?

The HeartWay provides end-of-life services for individuals and families free of charge. Our primary motivation and greatest desire is to proactively help families conserve valuable resources, energy, and love. We do this by providing meaningful focus and insight during times that are difficult so that families may spend true quality time with their loved ones in transition, while honoring their life and death.

We receive revenue from our training, events, and workshops and our work is also generously supported by individual and corporate donations, grants, and volunteers. If you are so called, you can make a tax-deductible donation, you can do that here.

how is what you offer different from Hospice Care?

Our supportive services augment Hospice Care, and we work very closely with Hospice to coordinate the care of our clients, by providing enhanced services above and beyond Hospice to those families in need of end-of-life care. We are here to fill in as many gaps in the current system of care as we can and are committed to providing compassionate, affordable, and integrative end-of-life care at no charge. It is important to note that:

  • Hospice is constrained by strict Medicare guidelines. Currently, benefits only cover two-thirds of costs incurred, leaving families with the weighty financial, emotional, and psychological burden of care.
  • The economic burden of end-of-life caregiving and the effects on the caregivers themselves too often leads to economic hardship and disruption of life and well-being.
  • Families are often overwhelmed with the many options available at every stage of illness or crisis and unable to deal with indifferent insurance companies frequently leaves the middle-aged children of the dying alone and over-burdened during a time of unspeakable grief.

The HeartWay offers support during all phases of care in hopes of providing an accessible means for families to transcend fears, and inspire peace, love, and compassion.

When is it a good time to reach out to The HeartWay for support?

It is never too early to reach out if you are in need of support, advice, resources, or services for:

  • End of Life Planning
  • Advocacy
  • End-of-Life-Care
  • Grief Counseling
  • Funeral & Memorial Services (inclusive of In-Home Funerals)

We are honored to walk by your side and help or will gladly refer you to appropriate resources should your needs exceed our abilities.

What is the difference between an END-OF-LIFE Practitioner and a DEATH DOULA

An end-of-life practitioner (ELP) is a death doula, but a death doula may not be an end of life practitioner. The difference often lies within their educational backgrounds and scope of practice.

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical professional trained to provide non-medical comfort and support to the dying person and their loved ones in the final days, weeks, and months of life. Training programs for a death doula range from a weekend course to a several month online program.
